Meals – Meals are normally consumed in each kitchen, but tenants may eat in their own rooms if required. Meals times are flexible with the emphasis being on individual needs and preferences. There are no set meal times. Tenants are supported to compile their own choice of menus, and tea and coffee making facilities are always available.
Management of Medication – If tenants are able, they are encouraged to administer their own medication. If any tenant finds this difficult Oak Ridge will ensure that any medication is stored in a locked cupboard in the tenants’ bedroom and remind and supervise the dispensing of the correct dosage at the correct time. Any medication administered by staff will be documented on a medication administration record.
Finances – If required, money will be kept safe and secure in a locked safe in the main office. Monies held in the safe are kept in individual plastic wallets which clearly indicate the tenants’ name. All transactions are recorded in individual cashbooks and receipts retained. This is available to tenants at any time.
Social and Leisure – Staff will endeavour to support any interests tenants may have and support tenants to enjoy recreational and educational facilities in the community. Tenants are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities including cinema, theatre, swimming, college, work experience and employment opportunities. At all times staff will respect tenant’s wishes and preferences.
Smoking – Oak Ridge operates a non-smoking policy for staff and tenants. There is a designated smoking area at the side of the building.
Contract – All tenants’ are given a contract containing relevant information. Once signed, the contract is held in the tenant’s file. Contracts can be made available for perusal at induction or prior to admission.
Policies and Procedures – Policies and procedures are held in the general office. All legal policies and procedures are available for perspective tenants and/or their representatives to read as they so wish.
